Lisa Sutherland Counselling
Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist
About Me
I am a Registered Social Worker (BSW, MSW) with 15 years of experience working with young adults to seniors. The clients I work with often struggle with anxiety, feelings of depression, difficulty moving through some of life’s challenges, caregiver burnout and dementia support.
My goal is to help you work through those challenges, to explore barriers you may be experiencing, helping you to feel more supported and motivated to do the things you enjoy in your life.
Together we can work towards achieving your wellness goals in a safe and supportive space.
Approach
Each session provides an opportunity for you to talk about what is causing imbalance and stress. We would work together to discuss your history, previous or current stressors, and your goals. We would check-in at each session to follow up on the previous session and address any new concerns or goals. I would use a combination of mindfulness therapy, solution focused therapy, and coaching to support you and provide some coping strategies and homework for the next session that may be helpful. I can offer a different perspective and help guide the conversation that may allow for the possibility of change of thought, understanding, or behaviour.
My goal is to support you to feel aligned with your values, feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings, and encourage you to step out of your comfort zone.
Sometimes the journey makes us laugh or cry, and sometimes we do both!
